Why is it important for people with heart disease to receive statin therapy?

Statins are a type of medicine that brings down cholesterol level in the blood. The American College of Cardiology and American Heart Association recommend the use of statins for patients with heart disease.

What do the stars mean?

The scores show how well each health plan ensured males 21–75 years old and females 40–75 years old with heart disease were given at least one statin medicine. A higher score means more patients got the right care at the right time.

The scores are based on information from at least 30 health plan member administrative records in 2024.
